A 15-minute Coastal Neighbourhood
This 15-minute neighbourhood is a reference prototype established for a 20-year draft development plan in renovating the Kwai Chung Waterfront. A self-sufficient and semi-urban living neighbourhood is anticipated as a pilot project. This neighbourhood prototype aims to encourage diversity in terms of housing, working, socialising, and commuting. Another aim of this plan is to reconstruct an urban metabolic system from a linear to a circular scale which advocates sustainability in various aspects regarding waste, food, water, and energy. The last aim targets to create a positive and unique community identity in this neighbourhood with response to placemaking and community activities participation, as well as building a resilient community.
